THE WHY - Have you seen all the amazing designs we have for press printing cards? We stock great paper from smooth to textured and even pearl! We have a massive variety of template designs to give your greeting card the professional look you are after!

THE WHO

Anyone can design a card for any reason. Thank you, Invitiation, Birthday, Christmas, Wedding… any occasion at all. You can either do it yourself or contact us and one of our graphic designers will gladly create something special for you.

THE WHEN

Depending on your requirements we can usually turn your cards around in 2 / 3 days so they will be ready in a nick of time!

THE WHERE

We have a range of custom templates available so you can create a masterpiece yourself or to make things even easier why not jump online and see our large range of ready designed options for you to simply drag and drop your images onto!

THE WHAT

Our custom range includes 14 different sizes. In fact if you are after any other size we can do that too! Any card goes.

AND THE HOW

Our custom template directions are straight forward and simple to follow.

All of our cards can be printed full bleed. This means that the image/graphics can be printed right to the edge of the card. To enable us to do this we actually print a slightly larger area and then trim down to the finished size. This area that is trimmed off is called the bleed. All our templates have a:

- RED 5MM BLEED AREA on each side.

- GREY TRIM LINE (which is the final size of the card).

- GREEN 5MM MARGIN line. (we advise that you do not put any critical information outside of this area.)

- Folded cards also have a folding line.

While full bleed printing is available you are welcome to design your cards with borders if you wish. It is still important to follow the templates regarding trim size and margins. It is advisable to make any borders at least 5mm thick as a thin border may be lost during trimming.

You can duplicate the template to create the front and back of the cards, however please note that some cards do have a separate front and back template.

When designing your cards please be aware to erase or delete the template lines & instructions inside the trim lines. All visible content on your card designs will be printed.

It is important not to resize or alter the templates, as it will affect the printing of the cards.

Points to Remember

- Extend all images and background graphics into the bleed area for a full bleed card.

- Remember the trim line is not exact.

- Keep all critical content inside the 5mm margin.

- Make all borders a minimum of 5mm thick.

- Note where fold lines are when designing your cards.

- Be aware of overlapped panels and visible areas when designing.

- Duplicate templates for inside & outside except where both are provided.

- Rotate content on back of folded landscape cards so correct orientation when folded.

- Remember to delete the background templates - anything visible on the file will print.

- Do not alter size of templates as it will affect the printing.

- Flatten you files before sending them to us.

Designing for a ‘Living Treasure’

A shining example in photography and design. Richard Woldendorp in his senior years is an inspiration. His unusual aerial landscapes are highly regarded and influential in the world of photography. We are lucky enough to have designed his latest publication.

For the last 18 months or so we have been working on a very special assignment, Richard Woldendorp’s latest photographic book. Karen has been working along side Richard on the graphic design for the book, while PJ and Wes have been busy scanning and retouching negatives to include in the image selection. Publication design has been something we have been involved in regularly over the years with books produced for FotoFreo and another of out clients Libby Baker.

Karen mentioned “while working with Richard over this time, his aerial landscape photographs are so interesting and captivating that there has never been a moment where she has not enjoyed the process of designing the book.”

As you can no doubt imagine it has been an epic project both in time and significance. It is always very special to work with our clients to help them achieve their goals, however working on this project has been a privilege as well.

Richard is a “living treasure” and was named so in 2004. He is an honorary life member of the AIPP and is a member of the Order of Australia for his service to Landscape Photography. Therefore being involved in this process has been an honour.

The book has been edited by Fremantle Press and is now in Hong Kong being prepared for printing. The first stage is checking the proofs and editing any final issues that may appear. Following that the printing begins. We are hoping to see a pre-release version in the next couple of months with a release date set for later in the year.

Girl from Kalgoorlie wins gold at WAPPA

A big congratulations to TINA URIE on her win as 2013 WA AIPP Epson Photographer of the Year. Well done to REBECCA JOHANSSON 2013 AIPP WA Illustrative Photographer of the Year, TINA URIE 2013 AIPP WA Wedding Photographer of the Year and KRISTEN GRAHAM 2013 AIPP WA Print Handlers Award.

It is a great privilege for us at Fitzgerald Photo Imaging to play a small part in helping our clients achieve great results at State and National awards. Without an amazing team of experienced specialists it would be next to impossible to take on the extra work required at WAPPA & APPA time.

As a result, we're now able to help customers with services from providing advice, different paper stocks, retouching, printing, finishing, matting, right through to courier services. All are vital stages in preparation and presentation of great images for judging.

Paul ‘PJ’ Jays fondly recalls, “I can remember the first time I printed for WAPPA clients back in 2005. Paul Maietta and I studied every image on display and compared them to the ones I had printed. It only took a few minutes for both of us to recognise we needed to improve our techniques, equipment and paper stocks. At that moment, we made it our aim to be printing winning entries for State and National awards in the near future.”

Due to our dedication in providing the best service, printing techniques and highest quality and choice of paper stocks, we have gone on to assist our clients in achieving their goals. Since 2006 we've printed work for many customers who've gone on to score gold and silver and take out category honors each year.

Giant Canvas!

Printing and stretching large canvas' is nothing new for us. We print large canvas' on a regular basis. So when a client asked us to stetch a 5.76m canvas we were more than ready for the challenge. Check out how this mamoth canvas was stretched by our expert canvas stretcher Murray.

Our client, Greg Stephen wanted a 5.76m long canvas, which makes the process alot more EXTRAORDINARY! We had to stretch it downstairs where the majority of our finishing takes place (but not our canvas usually); an extraordinary size called for an extraordinary table! Dimension, colour and vibrance!

Our client Access Analytics came to us late last year wanting to install a feature piece in the foyer of their new Hay Street office. The result needed to be crisp, clear and modern. We advised them to make use of our popular acrylic range to give the best impact.

The concept was simple, a series of images that represents the diversity of the company. Jeff Robinson the principal analyst, had the idea to incorporate images of the varied environments, people and culture of Access Analytics. This has allowed clients visiting their reception area to experience all the locations that the company has been lucky enough to travel to.

The images were collaged together, printed in differing sizes, creating a complex series for our famous face mount acrylics.

The final results really 'pop' and will spark conversation in any home or business.

7 Reasons to Calibrate your display

The weakest link for most professionals and amateurs alike is the very thing you are looking at right now, your computer screen! Few people bother to invest time and money into ensuring the most important step between, image capture and print is displaying accurate colour and brightness.

A lot of our clients have no idea that what they are looking at on their display is completely inaccurate. The consequences of neglecting your monitor can end up costing; hours of stress and frustration, endless reprints and most of all lots of money!
Below you will find 7 reasons we think calibrating your display is a must!

7 reasons to Calibrate your Monitor.

1. Displays render the same image differently.

Ever seen the same image differently on another display?
Calibration of your display can help fine-tune your display to an international standard and produce greater colour uniformity across different displays. Meaning more consistent results.

2. Print accurate Results

Have you ever printed an image that looks great on your display but totally different in print?
Colour discrepancies between your display and print can be frustrating, costly and time consuming. Display calibration provides a base for improved print matching. Save time, money and stress less!

3. Wide gamut display inaccuracies

Are your prints back looking flat and dull?
Wide gamut displays may show oversaturated and unnatural colours that need to be standardised and corrected by colour calibration for more accurate printing results.

4. White point is unreliable and greys are not neutral

Prints too warm, cold, magenta or some other strange colour?
The white point on an un-calibrated display can vary by up to 20%. Calibration makes the white point consistent and produces balanced, neutral greys.

5. Highlight and Shadow detail loss

Have you ever had and image printed that came back too dark?
Control of the display brightness, white point and tonal response through calibration will result in accurate display of highlights and shadows. Meaning no more muddy whites or blacks with no detail.

6. Correct image colours that are not true to life

A calibrated display renders camera files with high colour fidelity. Meaning you can edit your images with greater confidence and control, knowing what your see on your display is what was actually captured.

7. Monitors change and deteriorate over time

The brightness of your Display can change by up to 25% over a year. Calibrating your display will return it to its reference state of brightness and colour. That’s one of the reasons we recommend that you regularly calibrate your monitor.

See-thru to new look windows

Printing & installing window graphics are nothing new for us at Fitzies. So when our friends, Camera Electronic asked us about creating a fresh look for their store front we were only happy to consult them on the best options from our outdoor signage range.

Our client Camera Electronic was in need of a fresh look for the windows of their long established store on Stirling street. After consultation with their designer and in conjunction with Camera Electronics suppliers we decided that our see-thru vision product was the best material for the job. Settting to work printing and installing the graphics to the front shop windows earlier this month as the graphics were finalised.

Eco Fab - Textile Art by Anita Gadenne

Have you ever wanted to get your images printed onto a textile fabric? Well believe it or not printing on fabric is something thats pretty common for us. Check out this Exhibition from artist Anita Gadenne, as her works show off our Eco fabric at its best!

Something Pretty Normal for us.

Being one of Australia’s top pro labs brings a wide and varied array of printing requests. So when artist Anita Gadenne got in contact with us to print works for her latest exhibition it turned out that something Anita thought was a little different was actually pretty normal for us.

Anita (an alternative fashion designer and textile artist) told us after a short consultation that she was looking to get her work printed onto a textile fabric, something we have been doing for some time now here at Fitzgerald Photo imaging. Instinctivly our experienced consultant knew that our Eco Fabric was the perfect media for the job, and after showing Anita some samples she knew it was the right fit for the job, and her works were sent to print on our inhouse latex printer.

Anita's beautiful elegant works are now currently showing at the Moores Contemporary art gallery until the 27^th of May as part of the Passing Through Time Exhibition a joint exhibition showing Anita’s works alongside artists Barbara Douglas & Laura Mitchell.

A little more about Anita

Anita Gadenne is an alternative fashion designer and textile artist in Fremantle. Her studies have included, art and design, ceramics, textiles, printing, web design and digital arts. She graduated from Edith Cowan University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts, majoring in Fashion Design.

The photographs of corn skins on fabric were created during the process of dyeing corn husks with natural dyes, to later use as weaving materials. At a certain stage in drying, the husks become quite translucent and almost skin-like with the veins and fibres showing through. Some of the dyes used on the corn skins are tumeric, purple carrots, bark, leaves, and dandelion root. It is an integral part of her process to document stages of development in her designs.

Once in a while a product comes along that opens up a whole new realm of printing and display options. A product that could redefine how we think about exhibititing our photos, artwork or graphics. A product like Phototex. Check out the latest Exhibition we have printed on this ground breaking print media.

PRODUCT DIVERSITY.

Here at Fitzgerald's we have a huge range of products from inkjet and photographic prints, printed canvas, to acrylic products and beyond. But nothing truly illistrates the diversity of products and a diversity in application like our Phototex (aka "Sticky Pics.")

WHAT IS PHOTOTEX?

What is Phototex? You may ask. Great question! Phototex (aka Sticky Pics) is a peel and stick polyester fabric, adhesive material that can be installed on virtually any flat surface (indoor & out) in any weather condition and then removed and reused many times over. Its the flexability and durability of this product that allow you to really let your imagination run wild!

PHOTOTEX GONE WILD!

Fitzies recently printed an exhibition that showed the diversity of the product called:

Waypoints - A collaborative multi-media installation by Moira Fearby, Kate Koivisto Wheeler, Richard Munsie and Heloise Roberts.
The collaborating Artists from the Waypoints exhibition were in need of a product that was versitile and would not distroy the gallery space. So naturally our first suggestion was the use of Phototex. Images printed on Phototex were stuck to all manner of surfaces confident that the images could be removed without destroying the walls, paint, glass, doorframes or whatever the images were stuck to. New-Art Custom Wallpapers

CUSTOM WALLPAPER

Client, Blue Stream Photographic Art, recently commissioned the printing of a series of custom wallpapers for some of their recent projects including a wallpaper for “Two 40 Three” Restaurant in the recently refurbished Coventry Square Markets.
Upon receiving the job our graphics team set to work separating the wallpaper art into panels for printing on our large format printer and within a few days it was ready to be installed!

As one of the premier pro labs in Australia, we here at Fitzgerald Photo Imaging have had the honour of printing, finishing, framing and mounting a whole host of works for the Divergence: Photographs from Elsewhere exhibition. You're in for a visual feast as a massive line up of photographers works from all over the world come together in one place for what is sure to be one of the highlights of FotoFreo. Take it from us, from what we have seen... its definatly worth heading down to the Midland Railway Workshop for what will be an amazing exhibiton in what is an amazing space in its self!

FORM presents Divergence: Photographs from elsewhere featuring over sixty photographers based in fifteen countries including the United States, Canada, Japan, Russia, Germany, India, Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, Lebanon, Ukraine, Turkey, Argentina and the UK; in addition to local and national photographers from Australia.

A monumental showcase of international contemporary photography from over sixty photographers will be on display at the Midland Railway Workshop from March 15 - April 15th 2012

HEADLINERS!

The exhibition will be held in the visually stimulating panorama of the Midland Railway Workshop, a large scale industrial and historic site, which provides a stunning backdrop by some of the world’s most renowned photographers.

Headlining the show are leading international Magnum UK Photographer, Martin Parr, Magnum India Photographer, Sohrab Hura and the renowned Ketaki Sheth and Bharat Sikka.

OPEN EXHIBITION PROGRAM: FOTOFREO

FORM is partnering with the FotoFreo Open Exhibition Program to present a group show of emerging and avant garde photographers, from the highly stylised portraiture of orphaned children in the Ukraine, to Vita Buivid’s, fun, and playful, kitsch images from Russia, to the intimate lives and moments captured by Chandan Ahuja’s evocative black and white images of domestic life in India.

The PILBARA PROJECT PHOTOGRAPHER'S CUT

Closer to home, The Pilbara Project Photographer’s Cut will present the dramatic photographs captured by a collective of Australia’s most acclaimed photographers during field trips to the North West. Good friends of Fitzies, Tony Hewitt, Les Walkling, Christian Fletcher and Peter Eastway, consider the collision and interconnection of the land, industry and cultures of the Pilbara.

MORE THAN JUST AN EXHIBITION

Photographers will travel internationally to attend the exhibition and exclusive interviews are available.

On March 17th, a comprehensive program of artist talks, presentations, and a special, site specific installation by choreographer and dancer, Jacob Lehrer, will be held at the Midland Railway Workshop. These talks are open to the public and all are welcome to sit in on what will be an informative and insightful day for photographers and visual admirers alike.

Fitzies was recently approached by client Altona mining LTD, to update the look of their Perth based office foyer with some printed wall art. The Three Masters Seminar

Over the last decade, three photographers have dominated the AIPP ‘Australian Professional Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards’. In this Seminar these 3 masters come together for the first time bringing a wealth unfathomable of knowledge.

THE ULTIMATE, LANDSCAPE, TRAVEL AND FINE ART MASTER CLASS

Husband and wife team Mike Langford and Jackie Ranken from New Zealand have each had the honour of winning the AIPP ‘Australian Professional Landscape Photographer of the Year Award' twice and Nick Melidonis three times. Mike Langford is also the current ‘Australian Professional Travel Photographer of the Year’ and Nick Melidonis, the runner-up.

With numerous other awards and achievements to their names, these three Master photographers will, for the first time, combine their expertise to provide an inspirational, fun and informative day at Notre Dame University that is not to be missed.
