'There Once Lived'

Description
Eva Fernandez is rapidly emerging as one of Perth's important photographers. She currently has a solo exhibition on display at the Fremantle Arts Centre, and this series, there once lived...encapsulates the same concerns of nostalgia, memento mori, history and change. More than mere portraits of abandoned dwellings, these images are nostalgic ruminations of a lost era, inhabiting barren spaces and exposing signs of their personal histories as they slowly deteriorate. These images represent a part of the mourning and memorialisation process that reminds us of our own impermanence and mortality. Â
