"Rising to the Challenge" by Geoff Fisher
Five months after a near-death experience at Challenge Stadium, Geoff Fisher, multi- award winning professional
photographer and Masters Water Polo Player is returning to host "Rising to the Challenge".
|
Featuring local swimmers in stunning works of art, the exhibition will coincide with Heart Swim week being
held at Challenge.
"Rising to the Challenge" is based on Geoff´s experience with a serious virus that damaged
his heart and left the super-fit veteran water polo player fighting for life on the pool-deck.
Now back in the pool, Geoff struggled through blood-clot induced paralysis, lengthy hospital
visits, rehabilitation, wheelchairs and crutches.
Opening night, Friday 6th November, will be hosted in the Foyer of Challenge Stadium. Profits from the exhibition have been pledged to the
Heart & Lung Transplant Foundation in aid of the work championed by cardiothoracic surgeon and masters water polo player, Dr. Rob Larbalestier. A fellow teammate and long-time
friend of Geoff, Dr. Larbalestier was swimming at Challenge when Geoff’s heart stopped. He literally saved Geoff´s life.
The exhibition features Geoff’s own work with contributions from Henrik Tived and Richard Syme. All prints are on Kodak Metallic Paper. Art images on glass and artistic images of swimmers will be featured and everything is for sale.

Here’s what we’re reading this week. Don’t forget, we’d love to read anything you’re finding on the internet that helps to build a successful business.
Send them through and we’ll publish the link in our next newsletter. Our top picks this week are:

2009 Small Business Expo Perth
For a small business to thrive it needs easy access to both information and inspiration. The Brew Small Business Expo
Perth is packed with both. The event is free to attend and comprises a program of 20 business development seminars, and a business-to-business trade show of local providers
of products and services. Highlights include the Expo Keynote Breakfast, featuring Debra Templar on the issue of creating a customer service culture, and the speed networking
function hosted by WA Networking. For the latest information, products and services to help you manage your business, check out who is exhibiting, read the complete expo program and register free.

The Dangers of Being a Micromanager
"If a manager’s time is consumed with micromanaging, there's no time for all the other
managerial tasks on his or her plate. Quite simply, it is damaging to your business to
micromanage. Here are some tips to keep in mind when tempted to manage to the nth
degree."

Keep Your Regulars Happy
"Some small business owners are so focused on attracting new customers they forget to take
care of the ones they already have. And neglected customers will certainly be ripe for the
picking by the competition. Bob Green, president of The Verdi Group, an advertising agency
in Rochester, N.Y., offers some easy and inexpensive ways to make sure your regulars keep
coming back--and get some more along the way."
